Advertisement & the art of drawing attention
Attention seeker
Our attention is the greatest gift for an advertiser.
The task of advertising is to draw attention to something, from
the Latin advertere, meaning “to turn towards”.
Attention can be drawn in two ways. Marketers can either
purchase consumer attention or earn it. When marketers pay for an advertisement
to appear, they have a sense of ownership and control over its message,
location and timing. But if consumers are sharing information about themselves
about a brand or organisation, the brand has clearly earned their attention.
And our target should always be in earning that attention.
If you have a business, of a product or a service, you need
people to hear you out. You need people to know that you are there when they
are at their hour of requirement. You need a steady growth in consumer
attention, even if you already have customers. But they will never be enough
for your small business. And because of that you should always be on your toes
to keep grabbing the attention of customers or potential customers.
Capturing attention is an art
But how can we maintain it? This blog will guide you through how
to grab those eyeballs.
Plan how to attract existing or
potential customers: The first and foremost
requirement is the planning, about how to go about it. Sometimes everything
doesn’t fall in place as planned, but if you implement a much more systematic
approach about various ways and opportunities to win over that share of
interest or attention from not only your customers who already exist on your database,
but also the ones who visit your pages to have a look at the product.
You need to implement different
channels to attract them: Different businesses are popular on
different platforms. You must identify the channel or channels suitable for your
product or service. You can just try and test different channels and find out
which suits you the best. You also need to identify the customer base you are
looking forward to cater. With this, it will be easier to identify the channel
best for your business. But keep in mind, social media platforms are essential
in today’s world. You need to identify the presence of your customers in the
social media platforms and advertise accordingly. For example, if it is a
lifestyle brand you can try out Instagram or Facebook. Or if you provide digital
media marketing solutions, take to LinkedIn to promote.
Don’t forget to pay attention back
to those who give you: When the traffic on your
product or service is reflected, make sure you reciprocate. Engage with whoever
likes or comments on your advertisements or promotional posts. Appreciate their
time, give them little tokens of loyalty.
There’s no need to be secretive: You should inform anything major or
minor about your work to your clients, existing or potential. Your competitor
will anyhow discover you and your job and try to copy it. Even after all that
you must give out all vital information, else grabbing attention and
maintaining it will be a way more difficult task for sure. Promoting your
services means no harm.
Always remain true to work and
retain originality: There
will always remain competitors for any field you may belong to. But make sure
you keep maintaining and retaining your original thoughts into your product and
service, to keep you strong in the long run. Originality and uniqueness are the
best ways to attract customers.
Always be realistic: Be
realistic about what you can achieve or need to be achieved. It is not
important what you think. Customers are your priority so you ought to be
realistic about their needs and questions.
Do less talking and start listening
more: Listening will always connect you more with your
customers. It will guide you to know what the other side wants to achieve, and
if you manage to hit that, bingo!!!
